Vendormate Educates VHA on Growing Need for Vendor Intelligence

Atlanta, GA December 13, 2006 – Vendormate was among the keynote speakers invited to participate in the Compliance Council Meeting for the Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) of Georgia.

CEO and President, Andy Monin, presented need-to-know information regarding vendor compliance, taking time to point out the high risk threat hospitals face based on the number of people, namely vendors, that walk their halls on a daily basis. Real-life and potentially hazardous scenarios were used to convey how exposure can be minimized once policies are set and monitored when it comes to vendor kickbacks/conflicts of interest, licenses/certificates/immunizations, and security/building access.

Joan Hitchcock, Director of Internal Audit/Compliance at Phoenix Health Care Management Services, Inc. commented, “All of the members of the VHA Georgia Compliance Council were really impressed with the presentation of ‘Vendor Compliance - What You Need to Know’. It was of great benefit to our members and addressed a subject that is a current, real concern.”

While managing to regulations and guidelines such as Stark, Anti-Kickback, JCAHO, OIG, and HIPAA is nothing new to healthcare organizations, there is a realization that the complexity is growing and the need to efficiently capture and continuously monitor vendor status critical. The end-result for those that do not create a systematic approach and audit process is the loss of accreditations and potential interruption to reimbursements of Medicaid/Medicare.

Monin continued his presentation by offering Vendormate’s prescriptions for managing both expectations and compliance. One such solution is the company’s ability to not only capture and organize self reported vendor data, but also provide careful monitoring of vendor acceptance of policies, licensures/certifications, and even the financial health of the corporation. Further, Vendormate offers a vendor security and access solution that will allow electronic sign-in and produce informational badges, ensuring that each vendor passing through a medical facility is approved for business and expected on the premises.
