Vendormate CEO Monin to Host Atlanta Electronic Commerce Forum Luncheon: Who are your vendors? You need to know more

March 24, 2006 - The Atlanta Electronic Commerce Forum has invited Vendormate CEO Andy Monin to present to its members at its April 11 luncheon event. A veteran of the technology industry in Atlanta, Mr. Monin will discuss the emerging market of business credentialing and how companies can minimize their risk and increase their productivity through the use of these new technologies.

Event Description

Large companies are serviced by thousands of suppliers. Whether novel or commodity-oriented, product or service-oriented, the sheer volume of vendors approaching companies today creates unique challenges for the buyers and category managers responsible for these anchors of the supply chain.

The benefits of negotiating a "great product at a great price" can be greatly eclipsed by the ramifications of doing business with a company on the OFAC terrorist watch list or which doesn't maintain adequate insurance levels. However, few buying groups have adjusted their priorities to account for this, so ongoing monitoring of their vendor-bases is often forgotten.

Most vendor due-diligence today focuses on product reviews and matching technical requirements. These processes have traditionally excluded much research on the vendor company itself. Aside from ordering a Dun & Bradstreet snapshot report of a vendor upon awarding a contract, buying organizations often do little else to verify the legitimacy of the vendor's business, evaluate and monitor its financial health, or assess risks of doing business with it.

This presentation will illustrate recent business-credentialing technologies and solutions that companies can utilize to help avoid such problems with their vendors. A case-study will be presented to show how one company inexpensively implemented one of these new packages to help evaluate financial health of potential and existing vendors, and to help identify fraudulent or irresponsible behavior that could reflect poorly upon their company.
